Whether you’re an elite athlete or an occasional runner, most people experience a sports injury at some stage in their life. Think: ankle sprains, fractures, back pain, neck pain… the list goes on. Your GP is often the first person you’ll speak to for your sports injury. Your GP can also refer you to our orthopaedic specialist or on-site physiotherapists and exercise physiologists.
Dr Tack Shin Lee is an orthopaedic surgeon working with Hyde Park Medical Centre. He can provide specialist advice for sports injuries and trauma, as well as surgery when needed. Dr Tack Shin Lee has special interests in arthroscopic surgery, reconstruction, and joint replacement surgery particularly of the knee and shoulder.
On-site physiotherapists and exercise physiologists is available with PhysiCo City Physiotherapy. They can provide high quality treatment and rehabilitation for your sports injuries, so your best recovery to physical function.

If you have sustained an injury that needs urgent medical attention, please call 000 emergency services right away. For sports injuries that do not need urgent attention, apply RICER – rest, ice, compression, elevation, referral.
Rest the injured area to avoid further damage.
Ice the injured area with an ice pack for 15 minutes at a time, every two hours, for 24 hours.
Compression Compress the injured area with a bandage, starting below the injury and working upwards.
Elevation the injured area with a pillow.
Referral to a health professional for advice and treatment.
