Novel coronavirus is spreading around communities worldwide. It is possible that many people presenting with respiratory symptoms (including mild head cold symptoms) are infected with coronavirus. Our healthcare system does not have the capacity to test every person with respiratory symptoms. NSW Health currently recommend COVID-19 testing for the following:
1. All returned international travellers with fever or acute respiratory infection, or
2. Close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the 14 days before illness onset, or
3. Any healthcare worker with direct patient contact that has a fever (≥37.5) AND an acute respiratory infection.
People without symptoms should not be tested. If you fall outside of these criteria and you have respiratory symptoms, the current recommendation is no testing is to be performed. HOWEVER, it is sensible to remain at home and avoid other people until your symptoms have resolved.
We are not able to issue a "clearance certificate" (medically or legally) to allow people with or without symptoms of coronavirus to attend work as this has been classified a pandemic. If you have respiratory symptoms please stay at home. If you are worried you have come into contact with someone with coronavirus but do not have symptoms please stay at home.
If you require medical advice, please contact health direct on 1800 022 222 or call our clinic for further guidance. Medical advice is also available through our telehealth consults. Currently for all telehealth consult booking, please call the centre (02) 9283 1234 or book a “Telehealth” consult online.
We offer bulkbilling telehealth consult if you have a valid Medicare card at the time of the consultation. Otherwise, you can still opt for telehealth consult for a fee of $78. Discount might apply to overseas student with valid OSHC membership. Call centre (02) 9283 1234 to enquire.
